About
Resilient people don’t just survive, they thrive.
They do well during good times and bad. It doesn’t matter what life throws at them.
Becoming resilient should be the goal of any sane person in this increasingly crazy world.
Unfortunately, it isn’t easy. Resilience isn’t found in a location. It isn’t contained in a product or package that you can buy.
It’s a state of mind. A way of thinking only achieved through hard work. It’s something you assemble one step at a time.
Steps like getting trained in a new skill. Mastering a body of knowledge. Attaining a level of physical fitness. Completing an ambitious do-it-yourself project. Bonding with other people that are on their own quest for resilience. Starting a new venture or company.
Making the choice to become resilient is the first step. This site is dedicated to help everyone become resilient.
Who is John Robb?
Hello! I’m John Robb. I’ve done a lot of different things over the course of my life and enjoyed a measure of success with every one of them — tier 1 special operator, serial entrepreneur, inventor, astronautical engineer, technology analyst, CEO, professional pilot, author, officer, father, and husband. However, all of that experience is just a lead in to my current effort.
My goal with this site is to use all of the insight I’ve accumulated to help YOU. To show you how gain control over your future by giving you the methods and information for you, your family, and your community to become resilient.
Why I started Resilient Communities .com
As I traveled around the world over the past twenty years, I found that the perpetually successful people and communities I met or visited shared a common trait: they were ALL resilient. How so? They were able to bounce back. To adapt and recover from nearly any difficulty the world could throw at them.
So, based on the insight that resilience is the key to long term success, I’ve spent five years researching the best practices of personal and community resilience and befriended a large number of pioneers actually putting these practices to use. This research has enabled me to help people add resilience to their personal lives and their communities all over the world over the past five years. I’ve enjoyed every minute of it.
However, over the last year, the volume of requests and the intensity of the need has grown to exceed my ability to provide this help part time. Many people, like I do, believe that we will face difficult trials in the future. So, in order to do more, I needed a full time research and discovery effort. An effort that would enable me to do deeper research, build larger networks, and reach more people. That’s why I started resilientcommunities.com
What Resilient Communities .com does
How do you take control of your life in an increasingly unstable world?
- Decide. Right now, your success is akin to a cork on an increasingly turbulent ocean. Change that. Make the decision to take control of your future. Right now. Today. This decision requires a change in mindset and perspective.
- Act. Take steps to actively reduce your dependencies and gain degrees of freedom. Learn how to produce what you need at a level that meets or exceeds what you currently buy. Learn how to make an income either locally or online in a way that has meaning and substance.
- Align. Network with other people that want control and meaning in their lives too. Learn how to build or join online networks with the people who have the expertise to help you become resilient and/or share similar goals. Learn how to raise capital from that community to fund projects — or — how to build the online network required to design and build useful new products or services.
- Community. Build, join, or move to a local community that’s dedicated to building a resilient future. A community that isn’t dependent on a global system run amok or vulnerable to disruptions. A community that you can trust. A community that rewards your contribution with reciprocal loyalty. Learn how to form a community that’s worth living in and how to propel that community into a stable, bountiful future.
The goal of this site is to help you with every step along that path.
